Welcome, Oceana Haaland, Alumni Engagement Specialist

The T. Rowe Price Career and Innovation Center is excited to welcome Oceana Haaland as the Alumni Engagement Specialist in UCCS University Advancement. In her role, Oceana is dedicated to strengthening relationships between UCCS alumni and the university by creating meaningful opportunities for graduates and alumni to access lifelong career services, no matter what stage of life or career they are in.

Oceana partners closely with the T. Rowe Price Career and Innovation Center and UCCS Downtown to expand career programming, foster alumni engagement, and build partnerships that benefit both alumni and current students. One of the unique benefits of being a UCCS graduate is career support for life. UCCS alumni continue to have access to the T. Rowe Price Career and Innovation Center's comprehensive career services, including one-on-one career coaching, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, career exploration, graduate school preparation, pre-health career coaching, job and internship opportunities through Handshake, career workshops and events, and professional attire through Clyde's Closet. Whether alumni are launching their first career, changing professions, returning to the workforce, pursuing graduate school, or advancing professionally, the Career Center is here to support them every step of the way.

Originally from San Diego, California, Oceana earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. She now proudly calls Colorado Springs home and enjoys being part of the local community. Outside of work, Oceana can often be found horseback riding, rock climbing, playing volleyball, or spending time with her husband and their two cats.

Please join us in welcoming Oceana to the UCCS community! We look forward to the positive impact she will have in strengthening alumni engagement and expanding lifelong career success for our graduates.

UCCS Early Career Development Program:

Supports Undecided students as they explore potential paths and find their "North Star" - a career identity that aligns with who they are. Our goal is to help guide students still deciding their major from "Undecided" to "Purposeful" by identifying their unique strengths, motivations, and values. To help students determine the best major for their goals, students in the Early Career Development Program will be required to complete three key requirements during the Fall 2026 semester:

  • Academic Advising Appointment: Start by scheduling an appointment with the Undecided academic advisor to discuss their interests and begin exploring potential majors that fit the vision for their future.
  • Attend a Career Exploration Workshop:  Participate in a workshop focused on identity and career development to clarify academic strengths, personality type, and work values.
  • Attend the UCCS Majors Fair (College Representative Event): Attend this event to meet with representatives from our various academic colleges. This is a fantastic opportunity to get direct guidance on different majors and the career paths they lead to.
  • Experiential Learning (Strongly Recommended): Participate in career interviews, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities to help students find their "North Star"
