Summary Description:
Colorado College, one of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges and home to the creative and innovative block plan, seeks a highly motivated and skilled leader to join our team and play a vital role in our organization’s financial planning and management. The Director of Financial Planning and Systems assists the Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer (VPF/CFO) with the research, preparation, implementation, management, and oversight of the college’s annual budget. A strong candidate will need to have knowledge and at least six years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis and management, financial modeling, and a broad understanding of ERP systems and how they impact finance.

Anticipated Salary Range: $82,556 to $113,514 per year
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
• Partner with executive-level leadership in the development, execution, and achievement of institutional goals and priorities, vision, mission, and strategy. Helps set vision and drive strategy for improving financial operations.
• Work collaboratively with institutional administration and finance/accounting teams to define processes and procedures that support effective planning.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations, supervise staff and establish work performance goals. Recommend organizational and staffing needs to the VPF/CFO in order to promote effective and efficient operations. Develop a competent, productive, and efficient departmental staff by supervising, directly and through delegation, daily activities and assignment of work.
Budget Administration:
• Execute budget administration, develop supporting documentation, and deliver executive level presentations.
• Manage all aspects of the preparation, communication, maintenance, analysis, and oversight of institutional operating and capital budgets. This includes making policy recommendations for budgetary changes as appropriate, working closely with internal stakeholders, and providing leadership in the development and implementation of annual financial plans.
• Develop multi-year financial models used for strategic planning, testing of new ideas, projects, and processes, and benchmark the institution externally to competitive institutions and internally to strategic goals.
Business/ERP System Technical Management and Support:
• Manage the technical implementation, periodic maintenance, system upgrades, and training for all functions within the institutional ERP system, including oversight for detailed patch/release availability, analyzing vendor documentation, researching the impact on operational use, ability to develop software testing plans.
• Lead, control, and support project management for mid to large-scale projects; collaborate with project teams to define scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Serve as the division’s liaison with the information technology division by facilitating communication and interaction between the divisions.
• Foster technology innovations to the ERP system by creating process efficiencies and assisting users with change and adoption efforts. Stay current on governmental and industry regulations that may impact the use of the ERP system and make recommendations for changes to ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics or management plus a minimum of six years of experience in financial analysis and financial management.
• Knowledge of business operations and efficient/effective use of technology, analytical techniques (e.g. budgetary, financial, statistical, and research), budgetary methods and management, administrative computing systems, accounting principles, financial practices, and management principles.
• Proficiency in computer modeling and trouble-shooting and problem-solving, Microsoft Office software suite, and relational databases
• Strong verbal and written skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse constituents and from different cultural backgrounds.
• Strong work ethic; cooperative, collaborative self-direction
• Professional discretion with confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in the development and management of operational budgets, preferably in an academic environment. Master’s degree, professional certification, and prior use of Ellucian Banner and COGNOS reports are preferred.
