Counter Service Worker / Line Cook

Job Summary:
The Counter Service Line Cook maintains, preps, and prepares food during service hours while also
taking guests’ orders and entering them into the POS. S/He shall be proficient in all stations of the
kitchen, guest interactions, as well as team communication methods, product management and storage,
and kitchen systems.
The Counter Service Line Cook will help maintain the operational standard of the kitchen with the team
members on each shift. This position requires the ability to consistently perform in a varying environment
with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and clear, respectful communication with all house team members.
The Counter Service Line Cook will be a part of an optimized operational work-flow system and will
consistently maintain high standards in a varying environment with the utmost attention to the guests’
experience. S/He is responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and
efficient manner. S/He must be able to recognize and resolve problems and mitigate issues from
reemerging all while simultaneously completing various tasks. Counter Service Line Cooks will serve as
role models to their team members and must maintain a professional and effective demeanor.

Essential Responsibilities:
● Be the ultimate team player and maintain a consistently open line of communication with team
members through all levels of service. Understand your role and impact on the organization and
its priorities.
● Daily responsibilities include:
○ Engage with guests while maintaining pace and a sense of urgency without
compromising the integrity of our radical hospitality ethos.
○ Delight guests by greeting them with warm conversation and maintaining attentiveness
throughout their experience — inquiring and ensuring satisfaction, rectifying any issues
immediately, and further enhancing the guest’s experience and comfort.
○ Enter all orders with 100% accuracy into the POS system.
○ Help to create efficient prep lists and communicate prep needs with teammates before,
during and after shifts.
○ Prep consistent and dependable food — paying special attention to consistent portion
sizes, flavor profile, and recipe adherence.
○ Uphold high food quality, preparation, and presentation standards.
○ Verify all prep checklists are completed and accurate.
○ Help maintain costs by completing waste logs and transfer sheets, controlling portions,
and reducing comps via efficient preparation and presentation.
○ Ensure all food is properly rotated and stored in proper containers with labels at all times,
as well as stored in its place and in proper order.
○ Execute opening and closing checklists to include cleaning task lists while maintaining
high cleanliness standards in all areas of the kitchen.
○ Follow standard food safety practices as prescribed by county, state, and federal food
handling guidelines.
○ Maintain pace and a sense of urgency without compromising the integrity of the food
program.
○ Assist with the inventory process.
○ Clearly communicate among team members during shift.
● Provide continuing feedback to leadership surrounding best practices, efficiencies, concerns.

Required Education and Experience:
● 1+ years in food service industry
● 1+ years of customer service experience

Minimum Physical and Age Requirements:
● Must meet the minimum age requirement of at least 14 years
● Ability to work in a standing position for an extended period of time (up to 8 hours)
● Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50
pounds
● Ability to execute controlled movements using hand-eye coordination under specific conditions
Immediate Priorities:
ORGANIZATION FAMILIARITY: Learn overall organization structure and operations, standards,
timelines, and Blue Star Group’s unique offerings and culture. Become thoroughly familiar with all work
areas assigned to your position.
TRAINING: Work with key staff to learn how to complete key functions, existing performance systems,
and workflow.
TEAM INTEGRATION: Get to know your team, understand the working dynamics of front and back of
house, learn how to best work with the team, and contribute to a positive and supportive team
environment.
Compensation:
● $14.42 – $16.00 hourly
*Compensation varies based on experience
