We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with adequate time management and organization skills to join our team. Intramural Sports Officials must be able to implement Intramural Sports policies and game rules to the best of their ability. Intramural Sport Officials will be tasked to referee Flag Football, Basketball, Soccer (Outdoor and Indoor), Volleyball, and other sports as assigned. We are always looking for self-motivated individuals who take pride in their work and continually want to improve.Officials have the responsibility of maintaining orderly conduct on the court or field to which they are assigned and will perform duties as outlined below.
Job Responsibilitiesare as follows:
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of sport rules and Intramural Sports policies and procedures.
- Enforce and implement sport rules.
- Respond to and deal with conflict management situations.
- Enforce and evaluate sportsmanship of teams, participants, and spectators.
- Manage participants and teams with assistance of Sports and Youth Programs Supervisors.
- Conduct game/event participant check-in and captain’s meetings prior to the start of each game/event.
- Ensure completion of team rosters, waivers, scoresheets, and report final scores/results via FusionIM.
- Monitor and maintain crowd control.
- Facilitate directions and court/field assignments to officials, teams, and individuals.
- Communicate with Intramural Sports participants concerning rules, policies and procedures, and general program information.
- Complete all necessary paperwork during and after each shift.
- Assist in the preparation and clean-up of facilities.
- Communicate injuries, suggestions, and problems regarding activities to appropriate individuals.
- Attend all required officials’ trainings and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at UCCS.
Must commit to working a minimum of 3-10hours/week, working games/events at a variety of times throughout the day and week (including weekend and evening hours).
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrate basic knowledge of Sports and Youth Programs offerings with ability to officiate or have previousofficiating experience.
Basic knowledge of sport offerings (flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, floor hockey, softball, etc.).
Ability to provide positive and consistent customer service.
Demonstrable conflict management and problem-solving skills.
Awareness of safety concerns and risk management.
Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Commitment to student development and leadership.
Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within Campus Recreation and Sports and Youth Programs standards of conduct and professional expectations and to hold others accountable.
