Stipend Allotment: $2480/month (paid biweekly) – $11,408.00 total stipend (tentative, total stipend dependent on timeline of service)
AmeriCorps Benefits: $2,626.27 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon completion for qualified individuals enrolled in AmeriCorps grant.

About the Larimer County Conservation Corps:
The Larimer County Conservation Corps (LCCC) promotes individual development through service for the benefit of our environment and community. Our programs empower corpsmembers to develop personal and professional skills, gain environmental awareness, and actively engage in the community, while developing self-sufficiency to help them become productive members of our community. The LCCC is based in Fort Collins, Colorado and is an accredited corps through the Colorado Youth Corps Association and The Corps Network.
Position Summary:
The Water & Energy Corpsmember role is a full-time, temporary position performing basic home efficiency assessments in Fort Collins and Loveland, Colorado. These home efficiency assessments contribute to local climate action goals and provide assistance to community members that are interested in utility affordability programs. Corpsmembers will install efficiency products and provide water and energy conservation education to residents. Corpsmembers engage in a combination of hands-on projects and service-learning activities focused on sustainable building practices, community engagement and personal and professional skill development. Corpsmembers will have the opportunity to observe, tour and visit local industry as part of a career placement pilot program. Corpsmembers participate in, up to, 19 weeks of service within the Larimer County community. Within your service, there may be one week of reforestation projects in areas burned in the Cameron Peak Fire in part of local efforts to reduce sediment load in the Cache la Poudre and Big Thompson watersheds.
Schedule:
LCCC crews are expected to serve 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for approximately 40 hours per week. Corpsmembers will be excused from service on the following county scheduled holidays: New Year’s Day (1/1/23), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/15/23) and Presidents’ Day (2/19/23). This schedule may be modified due to weather, logistics, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Educate residents about water and energy efficiency practices and services
- Adhere to all COVID-19 protocols as well as safe and proper use of various tools and equipment
- Install water conserving shower heads and faucet aerators, smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, clotheslines, light bulbs, furnace air filters, and high-efficiency toilets
- Inspect home insulation, appliances, windows, toilets, and heating systems
- Assist with program marketing and outreach
- Participate in personal and professional development activities including team building, service learning, educational tours and activities, and workshops
- Participate in a job placement pilot program in the water and energy industry in Northern Colorado
- Contribute to climate action efforts in Northern Colorado
- Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the AmeriCorps contract and Corpsmember handbook
- Safely drive a twelve-passenger van
- Report directly to Program Coordinator
Training will include:
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Defensive Van Driver Training
- LCCC Policies and Procedures
- Customer Service
- Basic Home Efficiency and Product Installation
Qualifications:
- Between the ages of 18 and 30
- Committed to completing the program in its entirety
- Ability to remain focused, alert, and productive in difficult working conditions and perform physical labor
- Must be dedicated to Larimer County Conservation Corps’ mission and service to community
- Team oriented, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic
- If selected, required to verify identity and eligibility to serve in the United States
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license
- Spanish speaker preferred but not required

- Must possess an acceptable driving record, insurable driving record preferred
- Must pass a state and national criminal history check, drug screening, motor vehicle check, and sex offender check
Physical Requirements:
Must have:
- Acceptable eyesight, including clear near and far vision, good depth perception
- Adequate hearing to perform function
- Appropriate voice skills to be clearly understood on the telephone and in public contacts
- Fine and gross motor skills and use of arms, hands, and fingers to perform computer duties and operate equipment
Must be able to:
- Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach frequently or constantly
Environmental Conditions and Physical Surroundings:
- Exposure to variable weather conditions, confined spaces, noise, dust, airborne particles, and vibration
